ICE Mad Feast Invitation

For their 10th anniversary, ICE hosted a fundraising event featuring Peter Maxwell Davies' "8 Songs for a Mad King" — a work inspired by the madness of George III. With our small budget, we wanted to evoke a feeling of madness, allude to the historical inspiration, and give a modern twist. A distressed and crumbling stylized etching on the front depicts the fragile state of mind of the king. The back contains actual verses from the work underneath the invitation information to simulate the voices in a mad mind. A bright and jarring color palette and chaotic typography treatment provide a modern feel which is at odds with the traditional letterpress printing.
